Recommendation Lifecycle now available for Cloud Cost Optimization

Note:This feature is available with Cloud Cost Optimization.

The recommendation lifecycle introduces a structured and persistent framework for managing cost-saving recommendations within the Cloud Cost Optimization platform. This enhancement improves visibility, tracking, and decision-making by enabling customers to monitor the status and financial impact of recommendations over time.

The Optimization page now includes dedicated cards for Potential Savings, Rate Reduction Savings, and Usage Reduction Savings. These components provide a clear breakdown of savings opportunities and realized benefits. Customers can access a consolidated table that supports filtering by status and includes actionable controls for each recommendation.

Key Improvements

Persistent recommendation identity: Each recommendation is assigned a unique identifier, ensuring continuity across system updates and enabling historical tracking.
Status-based savings calculation: Savings figures dynamically adjust based on the current status of each recommendation. Rejected recommendations are excluded from potential savings, while snoozed recommendations remain included.

Types of Recommendations and Stages

The recommendation lifecycle includes two different types of recommendations:

Rate Reduction recommendations target cost efficiencies related to service rates and operational charges.
Usage Reduction recommendations focus on optimizing resource utilization, such as deactivating inactive accounts or consolidating licenses.

Recommendations can transition through the following states as part of the lifecycle:

Active: Default status indicating the recommendation is actionable and under review.
Snoozed: Temporarily deferred recommendations that automatically revert to Active on a specified date.
Rejected: Recommendations deemed inapplicable or undesirable, removed from the active list and savings calculations.
Realized: Recommendations that have been successfully implemented. This status is currently available via API only.

Customers can access all recommendations through the Optimization page (Cloud > Optimization) and interact with them via the Recommendations table.
